About us

On January 25, 2023 this bar opened to the public with the name A Social Undertaking at our door.   The name is a play on words as many of the team have worked within the funeral industry in Adelaide. 

A Social Undertaking is on many levels a place to get away from everything for a few hours, over a drink and good conversation. 

We offer internationally known classics as well as our own signature cocktails.  With a wide selection of Beer, Wine, Spirits and Cocktails, we are perfect for a night out. Our friendly staff are always on hand to help you find the perfect drink.

A brief history

There has been a bar in the current location for over 11 years. Originally established by the West family back in 2014, Mississippi Moon was a Gresham Street institution.  A dive bar with a southern USA influence and a pulse to match. Playing records and a great selection of cocktails & spirits.  

All good things must come to an end so when their time came to sell up move on to other things, A Social Undertaking was born, with a new owner focused on creating a cheers-esque community of after workers enjoying a drink and conversation.
